Managed by Kikorongo Community Rest Camp, this full-day birding experience combines two of Queen Elizabeth National Park's most productive habitats — the open savanna plains and the legendary Kazinga Channel. Your morning takes you through the Kasenyi grasslands and Kikorongo crater lakes, scanning for Grey Crowned Cranes, Martial Eagles, and the colorful weavers and herons that populate the wetland edges. The afternoon shifts to the water. A 2-hour boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel — the 32km waterway linking Lake Edward and Lake George — puts you eye-level with one of East Africa's most diverse birding corridors. Malachite Kingfishers dart between branches, African Fish Eagles call from the acacias, and Pink-backed Pelicans gather in rafts on the water. Meanwhile hippos, buffalo, and Nile crocodiles crowd the banks just meters from the boat. Your day concludes at Kikorongo Community Rest Camp, where you spend the night on the edge of the park. Fall asleep to the sounds of the Rift Valley and depart refreshed the following morning. With over 600 recorded species, Queen Elizabeth National Park ranks among the highest biodiversity protected areas in East Africa. Whether you're a serious birder or simply love wildlife, this combination of savanna and aquatic habitats delivers an exceptional day on the water and in the field.
