About this Package

The Best of Mount Elgon is a structured 6-day, 5-night active program combining iconic landscapes, community-based hiking, and highland culture in Eastern Uganda. Designed for travelers with limited time who still seek depth, this itinerary blends the Kapchorwa Wilderness Hike, the Mosopisiek cultural highland trek, the Sipi Falls waterfall circuit, and highland running culture encounters into one cohesive highland journey. Day 1 — Transfer to Kapchorwa Road transfer from Entebbe or Kampala, check-in at Home of Friends, welcome dinner, and evening cultural storytelling. Day 2 — Kapchorwa Orientation & Highland Walk Champion's Trail and waterfall walk (3-4 hours), with optional afternoon cycling or relaxation. Day 3 — Mosopisiek Highlands Day Trek 6-hour guided trek through Chemuron and Kapchelal, including village visits, viewpoints, Mukuuso cave, and Mengia waterfall. Boda transfer back to Kapchorwa included. Day 4 — Kapchorwa Wilderness Hike 8-9 hour endurance hike through remote highland landscapes with encounters with pastoral highland communities. Packed lunch included. Day 5 — Sipi Falls & Coffee Heritage Three-waterfall circuit (3-4 hours), Arabica coffee tour, and scenic viewpoints. Day 6 — Departure Road transfer back to Entebbe or Kampala. Accommodation is 5 nights at Home of Friends Guesthouse in shared occupancy, with daily breakfast, 4 dinners, and 3 packed or local lunches on hiking days. Road transfer to and from Kapchorwa and all boda transfers are included. International flights, visa, personal gear, and travel insurance are not included. Suitable for active travelers with good fitness — the program includes one advanced 8-9 hour hike and two moderate trekking days.
