This 8-day retreat is rooted in cultural exchange and reflection: cook with local mamas, join farmers in the fields, learn traditional songs and spend unhurried time with Sebei families and elders. What you'll do
Day 1: Journey to Kapchorwa + warm arrival
Day 1
8.00am: Pick-up from your Entebbe or Kampala hotel for a 8-hour journey to Kapchorwa ‘Stretch your legs’ stop-overs @ Javahouse in Jinja and/or Endiro Coffee in Mbale 4.00pm: Check-in @ Home of Friends Gueshouse in Kapchorwa, your cultural exploration base for the week 6.30pm: A tasty three-course dinner at Home of Friends 8.00pm: Campfire storytelling with the Sebei Cultural Storytellers
Day 2: Explore Kapchorwa’s beautiful surroundings

8.00am: Breakfast at Home of Friends (possible to get a Kapchorwa Arabica coffee from 7.00am onwards) 9.00am: Explore the villages surrounding Kapchorwa Town during a 3-hour Kapchorwa Nature Walk 1.00pm: Lunch with fresh juice in the lush garden of Home of Friends 3.00pm: Cooking with the Kapchorwa Mamas at a traditional homestead (10 minutes drive from Home of Friends) 7.00pm: Dinner at Home of Friends
Day 3: A day in the life of a local runner

6.30am: Walk the Champion’s Trail to get a first impression of how Kapchorwa’s champions and upcoming athletes live and train 8.00am: Breakfast at the Home of Friends base 9.00am: Engage in the morning routines of a local runner at his home/farm 2.00pm: A light lunch @ Home of Friends Optional afternoon activity: Join your new running friends for a jogging session @ 4pm or go for a village & nature walk 7.00pm: Dinner at Home of Friends 8.00pm: Campfire storytelling & sharing shining a light on Kapchorwa’s Olympic champions
Day 4: Mosopisiek Trail Day 1 ‘Hike into a timeless world’

7.00am: Breakfast at your base 8.00am: Departure to the starting point of the Mosopisiek Trail @ 2500m ASL 9.00am: Start of the Mosopisiek Trail with a 3-hour village & cultural walk including bamboo basket weaving experience 1.00pm: Arrival @ your homestay with a variety of local foods for lunch 2.30pm: Cultural walk around Yatui village including a honey and name giving experience 4.30pm: Moment of rest and relaxation 6.30pm: Dinner at the homestay 7.30pm: Campfire storytelling with the Mosopisiek elders
Day 5: Mosopisiek Trail Day 2 ‘Explore a timeless world’

6.00am: Sunrise walk including bird watching 7.00am: Breakfast with a view close to the homestay 8.00am: ‘Triple hill’ walk including home of lighting and farming experience 11.30pm: Early (packed) lunch with storytelling 1.00pm: Optional exploration of the largest cave of Mount Elgon - Mukuuso 2.30pm: Arrival at the endpoint of the Mosopisiek Trail @ Mengia waterfall One-hour drive back to Home of Friends 4.00pm: Time to let the Mosopisiek experience sink in with a fresh cocktail juice in one of our hammocks! 7.00pm: Dinner at Home of Friends
Day 6: Sipi Day!

8.00am: Breakfast at Home of Friends 9.00am: Departure to Sipi Falls 10.00am: Three-hour waterfall hike 1.00pm: Long lunch @ Endiro Restaurant in Sipi 3.00pm: Coffee tour at a local farm & mini-plantation 6.30pm: Sunset walk and cool photo moments @ Kings’ viewpoint in Sipi 7.30pm: Departure back to Home of Friends 8.00pm: Dinner at Home of Friends
Day 7: La Grande Culture Finale!

8.00am: Breakfast at Home of Friends 9.00am: Cave Dance Experience with the Sebei Cultural Storytellers including indigenous games & various ceremonies 1.00pm: Lunch at Home of Friends 2.00pm: End with a relaxation massage or go for a honey-wine experience in Teryet (2550m ASL)
Day 8: Journey back to Entebbe or other next destination
