The Mosopisiek Trail is a structured 3-day highland trekking experience through the remote villages and ancestral landscapes of Kween District on Mount Elgon. Developed in long-term partnership with local leaders and guided by native storyteller David, this journey combines moderate to challenging wilderness trekking with deep cultural immersion. Guests walk 12-15km per day through farmlands, ridgelines, and ancestral hills reaching elevations up to 2,700 meters. Evenings are spent in simple family homestays, offering insight into daily life, food culture, and generational storytelling traditions passed down through the Mosopisiek Community. Day 1 departs near Cheminy with a steep ascent to Tuikat ancestral hill, arriving at the 2,700m homestay for dinner and elder storytelling around the fire. Day 2 is rooted in village life — sunrise birdwatching, bamboo basket weaving, cultural cave exploration, medicinal herb collection, and traditional food preparation. Day 3 visits Kapchelal ancestral hill, explores Mukuuso cave, treks through Mengia farmlands, and finishes at Mengia waterfall before a boda transfer back to Kapchorwa. Day 4 includes a relaxing breakfast at Home of Friends before check out Nights 2 and 3 are spent in Mosopisiek family homestays.
