Mosopisiek Trail - 3 Days of Culture & Wilderness (including a night @ Home of Friends before and after trekking @ shared occupancy)
About this Package
Step into the living world of the Mosopisiek - a Community with deep roots in Mount Elgon’s forests and a proud running heritage shared with several of Uganda’s Olympic champions. Over three days and two nights, you’ll hike through remote farmlands and villages, enjoy sweeping mountain and valley views, and experience the warm, healthy lifestyle of this welcoming Community. Cultural encounters such as elder storytelling, bamboo basket weaving and learning about everyday life make this a journey you won’t easily forget. Your guide, storyteller and Community leader David ensures the trek is both safe and meaningful. Expect 12-15 kilometer of hiking per day on moderate to challenging trails, with some steep sections. Homestays are simple, family-based and very hospitable, serving tasty, mostly vegetarian meals. Sleeping and showering conditions are basic - but you’ll have warm blankets and warm water for washing.
