Half-Day Women-Led Culinary Immersion in a Sebei Homestead About this experience Cooking with the Kapchorwa Mamas is a structured, women-led culinary immersion in a rural Sebei homestead, developed under our long-term Community Impact Model. Just 10 minutes from Home of Friends Guesthouse, guests step into a family compound where food, farming and storytelling are deeply connected to daily life. Together with the mamas, participants harvest seasonal ingredients from the garden, learn traditional preparation methods and cook a nutritious highland meal over charcoal stoves. The experience concludes with a shared home-cooked dinner — an intimate setting where food becomes a gateway to understanding Sebei culture, family structures and the rhythms of mountain life. The activity is facilitated by Shadrack, our trained native guide and storyteller, who ensures cultural context, respectful engagement and smooth translation throughout. This is a co-created, small-scale culinary exchange rooted in a real household and direct Community benefit.
