Community-Rooted Lifestyle & Running Heritage Immersion – Mount Elgon About this experience The Mengia Village Highlands Experience is a structured Community immersion in the remote Mosopisiek highlands of Mount Elgon, co-developed under our long-term Community Impact Model. Mengia is a fertile farming village set near the spectacular Mengia Waterfall. Life here follows a disciplined yet gentle rhythm shaped by altitude, agriculture and strong social bonds. On this guided experience, guests walk through homesteads, meet local farmers and gain insight into how traditional practices remain central to identity, health and resilience. The Mosopisiek Community carries the roots of Olympic and World Champion runners. Guests learn how daily physical labor, high-altitude living and locally grown food contribute to the endurance culture that defines the region. This is a curated, respectful encounter developed in partnership with local households and youth guides, ensuring structured storytelling, ethical engagement and direct Community benefit. Access to the village includes a short boda boda transfer along a rural dirt road, offering scenic views while supporting local transport providers — part of the immersive highland experience.
