The Kataara Women’s Poverty Alleviation Group (KWPAG) offers an immersive "garden-to-cup" coffee experience located near Queen Elizabeth National Park in the Rubirizi district of Uganda. This community-based initiative allows visitors to engage directly with the farmers, participate in the processing of coffee, and support local women who have turned to agriculture to improve their livelihoods. The Katara Coffee Experience Highlights: Farm-to-Cup Tour: Visitors can tour the coffee gardens, pick red coffee berries from the trees, and learn about the entire process, including drying, roasting, and grinding the beans into fresh coffee powder. Interactive Roasting: The experience includes a hands-on session where guests can roast the coffee beans over an open fire and enjoy a fresh brew. Social Impact: The project is run by local women, many of whom are widows, providing them with a sustainable income and reducing poverty in the area.

It was an extraordinary experience to see how coffee is produced. The women from the community were incredibly friendly, open, and enthusiastic as they showed us what this part of their lives looks like. Being welcomed with a dance and a song immediately created a warm and inviting atmosphere and made us feel at home within the community. I wholeheartedly recommend this experience.
