Lake Kivu Barbecue takes place on Amahoro, also called Peace Island. Guests enjoy music and swimming while sharing a barbecue experience on the island. The setting brings together food, time on the water, and a shared visit to one of Lake Kivu’s islands. The barbecue features Kivu goat, fresh Kivu fish, and chicken. These are served with banana plantain, also called matoke, and potatoes prepared roasted, fried, or poached, together with salads. Guests can enjoy the food while music plays and they spend time swimming. The experience is supported by boat transport, guiding, a lifeguard, safety tips, and safety equipment. Guests should arrange their own drinks, swimming costumes, and electric power. Why this is for you: • Island setting: Spend time at Amahoro, also called Peace Island. • Local barbecue: Choose from Kivu goat, fresh Kivu fish, and chicken. • Shared time: Enjoy music and swimming alongside the barbecue. Bookings support VISIT KIVU CBC and its community-based tourism work.
