About this Experience

Mount Karongi Adventurous Hiking is an 8 km hiking experience that takes five hours from start to finish. The hike climbs Mountain Karongi, which rises to 2,580 metres and is the second highest in the Congo-Nile chain of mountains. Guests spend time on the trail with guiding support and hiking sticks, while taking in the landscapes around Lake Kivu. The route passes through lush green tea plantations and offers scenic views of Lake Kivu, Kiziba Refugee Camp, and Kibuye town. Guests can also see mountain cows and take part in milking, connecting the walk with the daily life and landscapes of the area. The guide supports guests throughout the route, with hiking sticks available for use during the journey. Guests can pause for Kivu snacks, fresh juices, and drinking water during the experience.
