BICOWA refers to the Bigodi Wetland Community Walks. At BICOWA, we have a team of well trained and professional local community guides who will take you through various activities that are offered by our community based tourism organization. Among those activities include; The BIGODI Coffee Farm experience. This coffee farm guided tour offers visitors an active, hands-on opportunity to learn about the entire coffee-making process, from walking through plantations and picking ripe cherries to assisting with processing, roasting, and grinding, culminating in a unique tasting of freshly brewed coffee. These tours are highly interactive, providing deep insight into Ugandan farming communities, their traditions, and the significant cultural and economic role of coffee, often with proceeds directly supporting local farmers and conservation efforts. Why This is the ideal experience for you? • This isn't a museum tour; it's a hands-on, active experience engaging directly with the local experts—the farmers. • The entire structure ensures that the majority of the proceeds directly benefit the farmer families and the BICOWA community projects, fulfilling the desire of community tourists to have a positive impact. • Experience is intentionally set up as informal sharing sessions, fostering genuine cross-cultural dialogue beyond mere observation. • The focus on the entire process (bean to cup) and the link to sustainable, traditional methods provides a deep, meaningful insight into Ugandan rural life and economy.
