About this Package

This experience is arranged by the Kisoro Volcanic Coffee Farm Stay, is structured to ensure you are fully prepared and recovered for the strenuous altitude gain, blending farm hospitality with high-altitude mountaineering. Volcano Name: Mount Muhabura ('The Guide') Altitude: $4127m ASL (The summit has a crater lake). Difficulty: High—Primarily due to the relentless steepness and extreme altitude gain in one day. Duration: 8-10 hours round trip (5 hours up, 3-4 hours down). Encounters: Alpine vegetation, bamboo forest, and a summit view into Rwanda and the crater lake. Coffee, Culture, and Critical Acclimatization: The first day is dedicated to low-impact, local immersion at the farm stay and essential rest to prepare the body for the severe altitude and steep climb on Day 2. The Coffee Farmer & Family: An intimate introduction to the host family, Peter Helera, and the Kisoro way of life. This is where you feel grounded and well-cared for before the isolated trek. Provides a warm, authentic cultural base and ensures maximum mental comfort before a major physical challenge. The Coffee Farm Immersion: A hands-on hour experience learning the organic Arabica process: picking (seasonal), washing, pounding, roasting, and grinding the beans. Offers an active, yet low-intensity, cultural activity for gentle stretching and distraction, ending with a necessary caffeine boost.
