Your journey begins at the Ruboni Community Campsite with a detailed briefing conducted by our experienced team of professional local guides, ensuring you are fully prepared for the ascent. • River Crossing & Views: The hiking trail immediately immerses you in the raw beauty of the landscape, including a thrilling crossing of the Mubuku River. You will enjoy spectacular, continuous views of the Rwenzori ranges as you're captivated by the fascinating zigzagging stream of the River Mubuku cutting through the forest landscape as you climb. • Cultural Trail: This is more than a path—it’s a living route. This provides a unique glimpse into the daily life of the mountain settlers. • The Summit: The climb culminates at the Portal Peaks View Point, a hilltop location is reserved for this special camping experience. The Summit Night: Fire, Stars, and Stories This is the core of the experience—a tranquil night under the vast African sky. • Communal Dinner: Participate in making dinner alongside your guides using locally sourced ingredients. • Campfire & Storytelling: Gather around a crackling campfire where your Bakonzo guides will share ancient legends and fascinating folklore about the mountains and their people. • Mountain Sunset: Watch an unforgettable sunset paint the Rwenzori peaks in dramatic colours before the mountains disappear into the cool, silent night. • The Mountain Alarm: The beautiful sound of singing birds will wake you up just in time for a glorious mountain sunrise over the surrounding landscapes.
